Today is my 35th birthday. A new year and new chapter. Year 34 was filled with ups and downs, fun times had and mistakes made, laughter filled and lessons learned. And I know age is but a number; however, 35 already feels different than 34. 35 will be my year of intention.
I know what you might be thinking – “intention” is such a buzz word these days, but to me, living with intention and focus on my true goals/priorities helps me have more good days than bad. I have an imaginary vision board in my mind with images full of my dreams and adventures, and I’m tired of waiting for the “right” time to live out parts of my vision. There is no right or perfect timing, and as I’ve learned throughout my 30’s, my life plan doesn’t always go my way. So here’s to intention and to 35!
Taking inspiration from my dear friend Carla, I’m making a list of 35 intentions/things I want to do in year 35. Here’s what I’ve got:
- Go on a bike ride on the Katy trail, or some trail at least (I don’t bike on the regular, but I’d like to give it a go)
- Plant something and watch it grow
- Play disc-soccer-golf, or whatever it’s called
- Go to a concert
- Get a new tattoo
- Learn to golf (beyond Top Golf)
- Go paddle boarding
- Learn how to hard boil eggs, like perfect it (my mom makes them for me still, at age 35)
- Try lamb at a restaurant
- Get an insta-pot and actually use it
- Attend a glass blowing class
- Log 35 miles per month, walking or running
- Write in some shape/form every day
And that’s all I have, at least so far. But that list will get to 35 items (see, that’s intention at work).
I am the luckiest girl in the world because I have the best parents, family and friends. I want to make all of them proud with year 35. I want to be proud of myself too, proud to take risks, proud to dream, proud to enjoy all of life’s lessons. Proud to always press on.
